Waitrose rolls out Signature Brew lager made with regenerative barley

News

Signature Brew has partnered with electronic music duo Groove Armada and regenerative farming business Wildfarmed to launch a new Czech-style pale lager.

Do It Right is rolling out to Waitrose stores nationwide and will also be available in pubs, bars and music venues in cans and on draught.

The five per cent ABV lager is priced at £3 for a 440ml can and is brewed using malted barley sourced from Wildfarmed’s network of regenerative farms.

Signature Brew said the collaboration brought together its links to live music with Groove Armada’s cultural profile and Wildfarmed’s focus on sustainable agriculture.

Wildfarmed works with British growers using practices designed to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, reduce water pollution and lower carbon emissions.

Signature Brew described Do It Right as a pale-gold lager with flavours of biscuit and light honey, alongside floral, herbal and lightly spiced notes.

Signature Brew co-founder Tom Bott said: “Brewing with Wildfarmed’s regenerative malted barley gave us the opportunity to create something that’s bigger than a beer collaboration.

“Bringing those two movements together to create a beer with genuine purpose makes this one of our most meaningful collaborations to date.”

Waitrose beer and cider buyer Jourdan Gabbini said the product reflected growing customer demand for high-quality independent beers.

“This lager also aligns strongly with our ethics and sustainability strategies, and we are proud to stock another product which pioneers regenerative farming,” Gabbini added.

Groove Armada brings farming and music together

Groove Armada’s Andy Cato, who is also a co-founder of Wildfarmed, said the beer connected his work in music with his efforts to restore soil and nature through farming.

“It’s great to now have a beer that brings these two worlds together,” he said.

“There can’t be many better ways than drinking a cold lager to directly support farmers who are restoring soils and nature.”

Signature Brew operates a brewery and music venue in Blackhorse Road, east London, and has worked with musicians and artists on a range of beer collaborations during its 15-year history.
