Aldi to cut prosecco prices every time England advance at World Cup
Aldi is cutting the price of its prosecco every time England progress through the World Cup.
The supermarket said its Specially Selected Prosecco will fall from £7.99 to £6.99 if England make it through the group stage.
Further discounts will then be applied for each knockout-stage win, with the bottle dropping to £6.49 after a round of 32 victory and £5.99 if England reach the quarter-finals.
The price will fall again to £5.49 following a quarter-final win, £4.99 if England make the final, and £4.49 if the team wins the tournament.
Aldi said each promotional price will be available for 24 hours within 48 hours of the match, before returning to its standard £7.99 price.
Aldi UK chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield said: “We know many shoppers will be getting together with friends and family to watch England throughout the World Cup, so we wanted to make those celebrations even more affordable.”
The promotion comes as grocers look to capture spend from shoppers hosting friends and family during the tournament, with drinks, snacks and meal deals expected to play a key role in matchday sales.
