Aldi Scotland extends pork supply deal with Browns Food Group

News

Aldi Scotland has extended its Scottish pork supply partnership with Browns Food Group for a further three years.

The deal covers fresh primary Scottish pork across all 113 Aldi stores in Scotland and forms part of the discounter’s continued push to strengthen its local sourcing credentials.

Aldi’s Scottish pork is supplied by Dumfries and Galloway-based Browns Food Group, with the range including pork chops, fillet, loin medallions, shoulder steaks, shoulder joints and 5 per cent fat mince.

The extension follows the National Farmers Union Scotland’s 2025-26 ShelfWatch report, which found Aldi was the first supermarket to list fresh primary Scottish pork.

The report also found Aldi had one of the highest levels of Scottish pork sourcing among supermarkets, at 41 per cent.

Aldi Scotland buying director Alan Leslie said the renewed agreement reflected the retailer’s long-term commitment to Scotland’s pig producers.

“We’ve built a strong and trusted relationship with Browns over the years, and this renewed agreement gives us confidence in the consistency, standards and provenance that the team continues to provide,” he said.

“We remain committed to investing in local supply chains and ensuring our customers can continue to access premium, locally sourced pork products for years to come.”

Browns Food Group chief executive Wayne Godfrey said the supplier was “very proud” of its ongoing Scottish pork supply relationship with Aldi Scotland.

He said the retailer’s long-term commitment, alongside the rollout of the new Prime Scottish Pork logo, would help support greater consumer recognition and loyalty around quality and provenance.

Quality Meat Scotland director of business development Tom Gibson welcomed the renewed partnership, saying it would support the wider rollout of the new Prime Scottish Pork brand and refreshed visual identity across Scotland.

He added that the move presented an opportunity to drive sales of Scottish pork and support future growth for Scotland’s pig sector.

NFU Scotland president Andrew Connon said the agreement was the kind of “positive outcome” the union had been seeking through its retailer engagement work.

He said it would give producers confidence at a time of significant pressure for the pig sector.

Aldi’s Scottish pork range is available across all of its stores in Scotland.
