Tesco NI adds Glens of Antrim’s new ‘Perfect for’ potato range

News

Glens of Antrim has secured a new retail contract with Tesco Northern Ireland for its ‘Perfect for’ potato range.

The listing will see the range rolled out across Tesco stores in Northern Ireland, expanding Glens of Antrim’s presence in the fresh produce aisle.

The potato and crisp producer has invested £180,000 in the development of the range, following a three-year research and development programme.

The project included field trials across 20 potato varieties to identify those best suited to Northern Ireland’s growing conditions.

The investment also includes a new automated packaging line at the company’s facility to support higher volumes and future growth.

The range includes ‘Perfect for Roasties’, ‘Perfect for Chips’ and ‘Perfect for Creamy Mash’, with each product using selected potato varieties chosen for texture, dry matter and flavour.

Glens of Antrim said the range has been designed to help shoppers choose the right potato for each dish and reduce confusion in the fresh produce aisle.

Glens of Antrim Group managing director Michael McKillop said: “Bringing our ‘Perfect for…’ range into Tesco stores marks a transformational moment for our business.

“It reflects the scale of the work undertaken over the past three years and the trust Tesco has placed in our team, our growers and our product.

“This partnership ensures more shoppers can access locally grown potatoes that take the guesswork out of cooking, while strengthening the category and championing Northern Ireland produce.”

The range uses Lady Terra, King Edward and Kimi potatoes. Lady Terra is used for mash, King Edward for roast potatoes, and Kimi for chips, including air fryer cooking.

Tesco NI produce buying manager Nigel Doherty said: “Glens of Antrim’s ‘Perfect for…’ range brings real clarity to the fresh produce aisle, giving shoppers confidence that they’re choosing the right potato for the right dish.

“Its strong local provenance and consistent quality adds genuine value to the category while supporting Northern Ireland growers and supply chains.”

Local chef and Glens of Antrim ambassador Stephen Ferris, who now leads the kitchen at Margot Belfast, has also created online content for the range, accessible through an on-pack QR code.

The content includes cooking tips, techniques and dish recommendations for Tesco shoppers.

Ferris said: “Helping people get the best out of simple ingredients is what good cooking is all about.

“The ‘Perfect for…’ range gives shoppers instant clarity, and the QR code takes it further with quick tips and ideas that make everyday meals easier and better.”

The ‘Perfect for’ range is also currently stocked in a range of supermarkets across Northern Ireland.
