McCain launches ‘Mr Chippy’ van serving ice cream covered chips
Frozen food manufacturer McCain has announced the launch of a limited edition ice cream van serving french fries dipped in soft serve ice cream.
This comes after research from McCain revealed that one in four Brits (24.8 per cent) would be open to dunking their chips in ice cream.
The pop-up van will be serving the combination for free for the next two weeks on the beachfronts of Brighton and Newquay.
Laura Koscik, marketing director at McCain, said: “Mr. Chippy is serving up the perfect treat for a cold and sunny spring day out at the beach – our Crispy French Fries dipped in a cone of creamy soft-serve is made to share and spark a proper ‘love it or hate it’ debate.

“Some swear by this creamy and crispy combo while others wrinkle their nose – but that’s half the fun! We’re all about making shared experiences even better with chips, so we hope people enjoy giving this unexpected viral combo a go.”
The activation will run at Brighton Beach, i360 East Site, Lower Kings Road, Brighton on 28 and 29 March between 12pm and 6pm and at Newquay Lusty Glaze Beach on 4 and 5 April.
This comes after the brand celebrated its two-year anniversary of its charity partnership with Community Shop Eastfield, in Scarborough last year November.
