Co-op and forecourt operator EG On The Move have expanded their franchise partnership by launching two roadside service stations with convenience stores.

The new service stations are based in Moston, Chester, and Buchandyke, East Kilbride. The Moston service station was renovated to combine the petrol forecourt with Co-op convenience retail services.

Michael Hargreaves, Co-op head of forecourt franchise, said: “We are thrilled to collaborate on the launch of two sites in a week.

“We are focused on scaling our franchise business by sharing our convenience expertise with quality partners and look forward to identifying more locations for joint growth with EG On The Move where we can create further compelling forecourt and convenience food sites together.”

The Co-op stores are operated as a franchise to bring quality food and drink, deals and promotions to motorists on the go.

The convenience stores include a self-service Costa or Lavazza coffee, bakery products, hot food and cold drinks, as well as fresh and frozen produce.

These new openings build on a successful trial partnership between Co-op and EG On The Move last year.

This year the convenience store retailer continued to expand on this partnership and open two more new sites.

Zuber Issa, CEO of EG On The Move, said: “We are committed to quality and innovation, and we look forward to continuing to grow our successful relationship with Co-op to enhance the convenience store offer aligned to our forecourts and create a fuel and food destination.”
