Tesco launches new nature partnerships
Tesco has announced two further partnerships as part of its Nature Programme, which is aimed at promoting sustainability across its supply chain.
The retailer has been operating the Nature Programme since 2023 with five projects in partnership with Forestry England and additional key suppliers.
Tesco is working alongside 130 farms within the established projects, which are benefiting from a range of initiatives, including increasing pollinators, improving soil health and reducing erosion.

Christine Heffernan, chief sustainability and communications officer at Tesco said: “It’s vital we play our part in protecting and restoring nature in our supply chains, so it’s great to see the progress we’ve made across our Nature Programme in the first full year of the initiative.”
Moving forward, Tesco will work with the Earthworm Foundation to implement regenerative agriculture practices in Côte d’Ivoire, where the supermarket retailer sources cocoa for its chocolate range.
Additionally, the retailer is partnering with social enterprise Sea Ranger Service to restore seagrass in the Northeast Atlantic, which is used for catching wild fish, including plaice, cod and haddock.
Heffernan added that the retailer plans to continue supporting its commitment to sustainability across its supply chain to “protect the soils, water and biodiversity in the supply chains Tesco relies on.”
This move is part of the retailer’s push towards eco-friendly farming practices, recently launching a data programme to back British farmers.
