Aldi has launched a major recruitment drive to support its store expansion plans, with 1,000 new roles set to be filled before the end of the year.

The discounter, now the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, is seeking staff across a range of store-level roles, including store assistants, cleaners, apprentices and managers.

The hiring spree comes as Aldi, which currently operates over 1,050 stores nationwide and employs more than 45,000 people, prepares to open more stores in the months ahead.

The chain is offering industry-leading pay rates, with store assistants earning a minimum of £12.75 per hour nationally, rising to £13.66 with service. In London, hourly pay starts at £14.05 and rises to £14.35.

The supermarket added that recruitment is underway for hundreds of roles at key sites including Fulham Broadway in London and Caterham in Surrey, as it continues its steady expansion across new regions.

“As we expand into new communities, we’re excited to bring even more people into the Aldi family,” said Kelly Stokes, Recruitment Director at Aldi UK. “We’re proud to offer not only the best pay and benefits, but also a positive working environment and real opportunities for progression.”

Aldi recently reaffirmed plans to continue investing in new stores as part of its wider growth strategy, which includes long-term ambitions to reach 1,500 UK stores.
