Aldi to open 10 new stores this summer in expansion push
Aldi is to open 10 new stores over the next 14 weeks, and refresh a further 30, as the discounter ramps up its UK store expansion programme.
New stores are set to open in areas including Oldbury in the West Midlands, Fulham Broadway in London, and Brighouse in West Yorkshire.
Additional sites are in Caterham in Surrey and Deeside in Wales, with upgraded store formats also arriving in places such as Herne Bay in Kent and Ancoats in Manchester.
The discounter added that each new store opening is expected to create around 40 new jobs, offering market-leading pay rates. In February, Aldi increased its hourly wages to at least £12.75 nationally and £14.05 inside the M25, maintaining its status as the UK’s highest-paying supermarket.

The move forms part of Aldi’s long-term ambition to operate 1,500 stores across the country. With more than 1,050 locations already trading, the retailer is investing £650 million in expanding its estate throughout 2025.
“At Aldi, our goal is to ensure everyone has access to high-quality food at unbeatable prices, and we’re committed to achieving that with our ambitious store opening plans,” said Aldi UK national real estate managing director Jonathan Neale.
“We’re targeting 40 new store openings in 2025, while many of our current stores will also be getting a refresh to enhance the customer experience, meaning we can consistently offer the best value for money to even more shoppers across the UK.”
The expansion comes amid strong momentum for the discount grocer, which continues to grow market share as UK shoppers seek out value amid a high cost-of-living environment.
Last month, data from Kantar revealed that the supermarket chain’s share of the grocery market hit 11% for the first time as its sales grew at the fastest rate since January 2024.
