Aldi’s annual Supermarket Sweep challenge is returning to Glasgow from Monday June 16 to Sunday June 22, giving shoppers shoppers the chance to participate in a five-minute trolley dash.

The initiative, taking place in Aldi’s store in Gushetfaulds Street, is part of a charitable fundraising initiative for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) that has been running since 2016.

Aldi Scotland group buying director Graham Nicolson said: “Our annual Supermarket Sweeps hold a special place in the Aldi calendar, donating over £50,000 to local charities since 2016.”

The discounter will donate a cash value equivalent of the purchase to the CHAS, as part of its commitment to giving back to the community.

Nicolson added: “CHAS is a charity very close to our hearts, which provides a truly invaluable lifeline for families across Scotland, offering specialist care and unwavering support during the most difficult moments imaginable.

“This year, Aldi Scotland’s Supermarket Sweep will be travelling all over Scotland, giving Aldi customers nationally a brilliant opportunity to raise funds for CHAS while shining a light on the incredible work the charity does.”

The CHAS charity helps over 500 children and young people dealing with severe health conditions, and the supermarket giant has pledged a £10,000 donation.

The discounter has been ramping up its charitable initiatives, recently partnering with Teenage Cancer Trust to raise donations for young cancer patients with a tomato-led fundraiser.
