Tesco expands wellness benefits for over 300,000 employees
Tesco has relaunched its long-standing partnership with wellness platform Wellhub, bringing new features and easier access to more than 300,000 employees across the UK.
First launched in 2019, the supermarket chain said the wellness partnership has grown from simple gym access to a wide-ranging wellbeing platform. However the new scheme now supports staff across Tesco’s stores, offices and delivery operations with physical fitness, mental health support, sleep, nutrition, and family wellbeing.
The grocery giant said the updated programme is designed to make it easier for colleagues to sign up and take advantage of the benefits.
Alongside this, Wellhub now offers a one-click sign-up process, which it described as a major improvement on the previous eight-step journey, and a wider choice of fitness venues across the country.
“After six years of partnership, Wellhub has evolved from simply by becoming more holistic proposition, aligning with our wellbeing strategy,” said Tesco head of group colleague health & wellbeing Dhavani Bishop.

“The increased accessibility of physical locations and the range of choice appeals to our diverse colleague base. With the streamlined one-click registration, access to physical fitness, mental wellbeing and family health we’re excited to relaunch this enhanced program across our UK and ROI businesses.”
Tesco employees can now choose from a wider range of price points, and even add family members to their plan. Specialised support is also available, including resources tailored for parents and women’s health.
The new programme also includes company-wide wellness challenges to boost engagement, with more than 25,000 Tesco colleagues already signed up.
Wellhub VP and head of UK & Ireland Luke Bullen added: “Our six-year partnership with Tesco, Europe’s largest private sector employer — has been a tremendous source of pride.”
“It’s deeply rewarding to see how our partnership is driving real impact at scale, helping hundreds of thousands of people prioritise their wellbeing in ways that fit their lives.”
The news follows other recent investments Tesco has made to improve colleague benefits and workplace experience, as part of its broader strategy to support employees during a challenging time for the retail sector.
Earlier this year Tesco announced an investment of £180m in colleague pay, having reached an agreement with trade union Usdaw for a 5.2% increase.
