Aldi is inviting customers to help it to identify the best locations for new stores across the UK.

The most popular areas will be considered for store openings, as part of the discount grocer’s ongoing commitment to expand its presence.

Aldi currently has more than 1,050 stores and remains committed to its long-term goal of operating more than 1,500 UK stores.

In the coming months, the supermarket chain will be bringing new stores to areas such as Ashford in Kent and Eastbourne in Sussex, as well as Caterham in Surrey, as part of its focus on expanding in the South East.

Aldi UK managing director of national real estate Jonathan Neale said: “We’ve always believed that great quality food should be within everyone’s reach and many communities would therefore still benefit from having an Aldi nearby.

“We’re always looking at key places where we see potential, but we also want to hear directly from the public about where the demand is greatest. Their input is invaluable as we continue to grow and bring Aldi’s unbeatable value to more areas across Britain.”

The grocer ran a similar initiative last year, which saw locations in London, Manchester and Derbyshire recognised as priority locations among shoppers. Progress has already been made to bring a new store near to Chesterfield in Derbyshire, with Aldi securing planning permission for a site on Ringwood Road in Brimington.

The supermarket is asking customers with nominations to email NextNewStore@aldi.co.uk, stating the town they would like to put forward in the subject of the email by 8 June, with the results to be unveiled later this year.

The Isle of Man desparately needs one we only have Tesco and the Coop . Ans a small M&S . Tesco is more expensive here that in england , I have noticed that as I have just moved back to the island
And there is the perfect location for it just off Castle street in Douglas it used to be a Shoprite store and has a large car park above it .

I live in Wigan and my closest store Hindley or Newtown but I shop at Westhoughton because it’s easier to access. There is a social club near my estate that has closed down. All my neighbours and I agree that it would be perfect for a new store, we have a large Tesco in town and a metro close by but not in reach of many people especially those in the bungalows around the area. Believe me when I say this if you opened a store the footfall would be huge.
