Aldi predicts sale of over 4.5m glasses of fizz ahead of New Year’s Eve
Aldi is anticipating the sale of 4.5 million glasses of its sparkling wine range ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations, the equivalent of more than 750,000 bottles.
It comes as the discount grocer is slashing the prices of a selection of its Specially Selected sparkling wine until 31 December, with Crémant du Jura now £8.19, offering a saving of 25%, while Nicolas De Montbart Champagne is 29% off to £9.99.
Last week, Aldi cut the price of its Specially Selected Crémant de Loire by 44% to £4.99 and implemented a two-bottle purchase limit on the popular fizz amid unprecedented demand.

At the time, Aldi UK managing director Julie Ashfield said: “By lowering the price of our exquisite Crémant De Loire to just £4.99 and introducing a two-bottle limit, we’re ensuring more customers can experience this exceptional sparkling wine at an unbelievable price.”
Earlier this month, Majestic forecast a surge in sales with a bottle of champagne set to sell every five seconds throughout December.
The specialist wine retailer said it expected exclusive to Majestic brands, such as Boizel, Bouvet and Cattier, to rise in popularity during the next fortnight as on average, around 40% of annual champagne sales are made during November and December.
