Iceland is bringing back its Christmas advert this year, with a campaign that focuses on celebrating “real” festive moments.

Showcased across TV from 16 November, the four adverts feature the frozen food specialist’s new ambassador Josie Gibson.

It depicts four storylines that champion real Christmas moments for families, from must-have festive foods to the joy of celebrating the holidays together.

The ad ends with a festive twist on the supermarket chain’s famous tagline which reads: ‘That’s why Santa goes to Iceland’.

This year’s advert follows the frozen food supermarket axing its Christmas advert in 2023 in order to support its customers during the cost-of-living crisis.

Executive chairman Richard Walker said: “It’s the perfect time for Iceland to return to Christmas TV. Josie has been a fantastic brand ambassador for us this year, loved by colleagues and customers alike.

“This year’s ad, much like our Christmas range, delivers quality and value to help our customers celebrate this magical time of year. After all, that’s why Santa goes to Iceland.”

The new advert comes after the retailer earlier this year dropped the word ‘mums’ from its slogan, ‘That’s why mums go to Iceland’, in favour of a more gender-inclusive strapline – ‘That’s why we go to Iceland’ – in a bid to reflect “its growing customer base”.

The new campaign follows many UK supermarkets releasing Christmas adverts in recent weeks, including Tesco which earlier this week launched its Gingerbread-filled ad that encourages shoppers to “feed your Christmas spirit”, alongside a new charity donation drive.
