Starbucks launches Aerocano across UK coffeehouses
Starbucks has launched its new Aerocano drink across the UK, bringing the espresso-based serve to coffeehouses nationwide from 1 October.
The Aerocano is made using Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast, which is air-whipped by baristas to create a fine microfoam and cascading texture through the cup.
Customers can also choose the drink with Starbucks Signature Espresso Roast or Decaf Espresso Roast.
Positioned as a modern take on the Iced Americano, the launch coincides with International Coffee Day and forms part of Starbucks’ continued push into cold beverages.
The coffee giant said cold drinks now account for around 60% of its global beverage sales, as consumers increasingly seek out more visually distinctive and customisable serves.
Starbucks is also launching a Caramel Aerocano alongside the core drink, combining the same aerated texture with a subtle caramel flavour.
Same Henderson, senior manager of beverage research and development at Starbucks EMEA, said: “Few coffees are as loved or as familiar as the Americano, yet the way we enjoy it has barely changed in years.
“With Aerocano, our baristas carefully control the timing, sequence and intensity of the pour to create its signature foam and rounded consistency in every cup.”
Henderson added that the drink was designed to create an experience before the first sip, with customers encouraged to watch the coffee cascade through the cup before drinking.
The UK launch follows an earlier rollout in Asia and its introduction in the US earlier this week, making Britain one of the first markets to serve the new format.
Starbucks said the Aerocano would sit alongside growing cold-drink categories such as matcha and boba-inspired beverages, which are reshaping expectations of coffeehouse menus.
The Starbucks Aerocano and Caramel Aerocano are available in coffeehouses across the UK from 1 October 2026.
