Musk’s X dismisses Unilever from advertising boycott lawsuit
Unilever has been dropped from a lawsuit that saw Elon Musk’s social media platform X sue several consumer goods giants over an alleged conspiracy to boycott the site.
In a legal filing from the case’s federal court in Texas, X, formerly known as Twitter, said it was withdrawing its claim against the food and drink manufacturer.
In a statement to Reuters, Unilever said it had “reached an agreement with X, which has committed to meeting our responsibility standards to ensure the safety and performance of our brands on the platform”.
X said it was looking forward to “to continu[ing] our partnership with them on the platform,” despite also “continuing to pursue our antitrust claims against the other defendants”.

Musk’s X announced it was to sue food and drink conglomerates Unilever and Mars over claims of a “massive advertiser boycott” in August this year.
The consumer giants’ actions came amid several advertisers abandoning the social platform after concerns their content could appear next to racist and ‘fake news’ posts.
However, the social media tycoon claimed that the firms were causing a deliberate financial loss, as he filed a lawsuit against the World Federation of Advertisers and individual companies that included Unilever, which has Ben & Jerry’s Magnum, and Marmite, in its portfolio of brands.
Musk also took to X tweet: “We tried peace for 2 years, now it is war.”
It is understood Mars, which owns Dolmio, Snickers and Skittles, is still being sued in the antitrust lawsuit.
Grocery Gazette has contacted Mars and X for comment.
