Asda’s Cashpot for Schools initiative, which only launched on Monday, has already secured over 300,000 customer sign up’s, raising £1.1m for primary schools across the UK.
The industry first campaign, which is fronted by British fitness coach and social media personality Joe Wicks, sees the supermarket offering to donate 0.5% of the value of any shop done until 30 November to customers’ primary school of choice when they shop with Asda Rewards.
The retailer is projecting to donate around £7.7m through the initiative.

It comes off the back of research which found that parents are asked on average to donate £138 per year to support their children’s schools, while 95% of educators say a lack of funding has impacted learning at school.
Asda chief customer officer David Hills said: “I’m absolutely delighted that in just four days we’ve seen hundreds of thousands of customers sign up for the initiative – raising over £1.1 million for primary schools across the UK.
“This money will make a huge difference to millions of children and Asda will continue to donate 0.5% of the value of our customers shopping to the school of their choice, when the shop with Asda Rewards, until the end of November – meaning there is millions more for us to invest.
“Please encourage all your friends and family to sign up to Asda Rewards and shop to support local primary schools in your area.”
