Tesco SKUs grow by more than a third follow marketplace launch
Tesco’s SKUs have grown by more than a third following the launch of its marketplace, analysis from industry title The Grocer has found.
The supermarket’s total online SKU count has increased 36% from 28,018 to 38,070 in just over a week since the marketplace launched.
It sells more than 10,000 third-party products across categories including DIY, garden, homeware, petcare and toys to give shoppers “access to more” than it carries in-store or online.

The categories which currently have the most SKUs include garden and DIY, cook and dine, and home accessories.
Due to the additional marketplace items, health and beauty products available at Tesco.com has grown from 952 to 1,291, while 931 petcare SKUs are available from marketplace partners alongside the 739 that can be delivered directly from the grocer’s website.
At the time of the launch, Tesco marketplace director Peter Filcek said the range expansion made it “even more convenient for customers to shop” at the retailer.
It isn’t the first time the grocer has explored the concept of a marketplace.
In 2012, it launched a marketplace on Tesco Direct. However, due to the loss-making venture was ditched in 2018.
