Nescafé has launched the first paper refill pack for its Gold Blend variant which can be easily recycled through kerbside collection.
The fully recyclable packaging reduces the product’s weight by 97% compared to the traditional 200g glass coffee jars, with the paper packs deigned to be used to refill the glass jar.
The new packs will be available exclusively in Tesco from this week and look to build on the coffee brand’s ongoing commitment to sustainable packaging and Nestlé’s goal to reduce its use of virgin plastic by one third by 2025.

Nestlé UK and Ireland marketing director of Nescafé soluble coffee Ingrid Hayes said the new packaging marked “a positive step towards our sustainability goals”.
“Nescafé is dedicated to driving positive change and offering more sustainable choices whilst offering the same great coffee and the iconic rich aroma that people love,” she said.
The launch follows the brand’s success in 2022 with the introduction of recyclable in-store refill pouches that have on average 60% less plastic than the glass coffee jar’s lid.
The new packs come as Nescafé is undergoing a major relaunch with a refreshed look aimed at modernising the 85-year-old brand.
Earlier this year, it unveiled plans to update packaging designs across its Original, Gold Blend, Azera and Frothy Coffee products in a bid to make them stand out on shelf.
