Waitrose launches new summer café menu

Waitrose has launched a new refreshed summer menu in 130 of its cafés.

The updated offering features a selection of six large plates, including a chicken and pesto ciabatta, fish tacos with chipotle slaw, chicken Ceaser salad,  a Greek style salad with halloumi, an American style salt beef flatbread, and a smoky vegan chili.

Alongside these options, the upmarket retailer is also offering five small plates which include a chicken and pesto toastie, chicken Thai green curry soup, carrot and coriander soup, cream of chicken soup and a double chocolate and orange cookie.

The new seasonal drinks menu features a range of beverages such as an Eton mess frappe, a passionfruit and coconut frappe, a vanilla macchiato frappe, sparkling passionfruit lemonade, and a sparkling strawberry lemonade.

The Waitrose wine bars have also had a menu refresh for the summer, offering a variety of drinks including a No.1 English vintage cider, Aperol Spritz, Pimm’s and lemonade, and a spiced pineapple margarita.

It comes as Waitrose is set to launch its first in-store Gail’s Bakery in a move aimed at “strengthening the partnership” between the two companies.

Shoppers at Waitrose’s Canary Wharf branch in London will soon be able to order fresh goods and drinks at Gail’s café, as well as use its click-and-collect services.
