Aldi has launched plastic-free packaging on its everyday own-label toothbrushes, in an effort to reduce its environmental impact.
The discounter has replaced the plastic and card packaging with a solely cardboard alternative, making it easier for customers to recycle at home.
The introduction of Aldi’s new two-packs of Dentitex Soft and Whitening toothbrushes will remove an estimated 17 tonnes of plastic packaging per year, the supermarket said.

Aldi plastic and packaging director Luke Emery said: “Reducing plastic is a huge priority for us at Aldi, and we know how important it is to our customers too.
“We are continuously looking for innovative ways to modify our packaging, and making this change on our toothbrushes is another step forward in our ongoing work to remove plastic where possible.”
The new packing follow a series of sustainability changes the supermarket giant has made to its grocery favourites.
Earlier this year, the grocer experimented with double volume toilet rolls in an aim to reduce its plastic waste, while in February Aldi began using artificial intelligence (AI) to track the journey of flexible plastic packaging collected from the public via front-of-store collection points.
