Lidl predicts busiest day this Easter as it expects surge in shoppers

Lidl is expecting a surge in shoppers this Easter as it predicts Saturday 30 March will the busiest day of the bank holiday weekend.

The discounter welcomed nearly 2,000 shoppers per minute on Easter Saturday in 2023, and it anticipates even more people will come through its doors this year.

While Lidl stores will be open as usual on Good Friday and Saturday, it has warned those who want to beat the peak crowds to visit between 8am and 10am or after 6pm.

All stores in England and Wales will be closed on Easter Sunday.

The supermarket is also reminding its Lidl Plus loyalty customers to collect stamps with every £1 spent on Lidl’s Favorina Easter range until 30 March.

With every five stamps collected, customers can enter into a prize draw with the chance to win a £100 coupon to use on their next shop.

This year, Lidl’s Easter range includes a lemon and dill salmon side, a West Country whole lamb leg, as well as sweet treats such as a triple chocolate marbled egg and ‘luxury’ hot cross buns.

Fellow rival discounter Aldi said it is also gearing up for its “biggest Easter yet”, predicting sales of around 20m hot cross buns and 8.6m of its own-label chocolate eggs.
