Tesco introduces dedicated menopause section

Tesco is trialling a new menopause-dedicated section as it introduces a symbol to signpost menopause-friendly products.

The M-tick, the world’s first universal symbol to indicate menopause-relevant products, will label certain items at the supermarket, both in-store and online.

It follows the retailer joining forces with awareness collective Gen M, in a bid to better guide shoppers to find menopause products in store.

Running from 7 February to 19 March in 189 stores, a dedicated menopause display will showcase specific brands such as Vitabiotics vitamins, Nivea, Olay and Simple skincare products, and Tena and Always products.

Tesco has also introduced a permanent section to its online store, with customers able to browse a range of 450 products chosen as a result of research into online shopping habits of those going through the menopause.

Tesco category director for health, beauty and wellness Tom Lye said: “Tesco is committed to transforming the shopping experience for those going through menopause and working with Gen-M is the next step in supporting our customers and colleagues.

“We hope the dedicated display in stores and the online filter will provide reassurance around what products are safe to use and help signpost to products that can ease the symptoms associated with menopause.”

The retailer also revealed it is to further support colleagues going through the menopause with a range of schemes, including menopause-friendly uniforms.
