Tesco slashes prices of more than 150 everyday products

Tesco has cut prices across more than 150 products to help customers budgets go further this January.

Everyday items such as Bolognese pasta sauce, baked beans and instant coffee will be reduced by an average 12.5%.

Other products featured in the price cut include stawberries and British pork sausages, both of which have been reduced by 30p to £2, as well as blueberries, large pineapples, clear honey, sugarsnap peas, and honey nut cornflakes.

Tesco group chief commercial officer Ashwin Prasad said: “After the expense of Christmas, January can really stretch family budgets and families are looking for great value more than at any other time.

“By focusing our price cuts on truly popular items, customers will find it’s even easier to spend less at Tesco.”

This comes as the supermarket giant is giving customers double Clubcard points every time they shop for the next seven weeks.

It marks the first time that Tesco has offered a double points event in over a decade, with over 20m members set to benefit.

Other major UK supermarkets have also invested in keeping prices low this month.

Ocado Retail has reduced the prices of more than 1,700 products as part of its Big Price Drop campaign and Morrisons has locked the prices of over 1,000 items across fresh fruit and vegetables, dinnertime staples, and health and beauty products.
