Sainsbury’s is to relocate its London headquarters from 33 Holborn to the sustainable JJ Mack Building in Farringdon.
Following 22 years at its current site, the supermarket giant will move to the 68,002 sq ft space in 33 Charterhouse Street in 2025.
Sainsbury’s has been considering relocating since 2007 when it looked to relocate to King’s Cross in a bid to “significantly reduce central office costs”.

Sainsbury’s chief executive Simon Roberts said the relocation was a “really exciting opportunity to create a modern and sustainable workspace,” adding it “is better suited to our needs and ways of working as our business continues to evolve”.
“We know that our success depends on our brilliant colleagues and by moving to a more flexible, efficient workspace we can remain committed to maintaining a presence in central London while taking another important step in delivering our save to invest plan, which will enable us to invest where it matters most to our customers.”
Sainsbury’s will share the 33 Charterhouse Street site with companies including Macquarie Group, offshore wind developer Corio Generation and private equity firm Partners Group.
This comes as the grocer has delivered its strongest growth in market share in a decade, having grown 0.4 percentage points to 15.6% in November, according to Kantar.
