Watch: Waitrose launches Christmas ad starring Graham Norton

Waitrose will debut its houseparty-themed Christmas advert starring TV presenter Graham Norton on TV this evening.

The ad, the upmarket grocer’s first Christmas campaign with new agency Saatchi & Saatchi, features a couple hosting a festive party who face issues such as guests arriving too early, powercuts and even a visit from the police.

The ad, which is soundtracked to Depeche Mode’s ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, let’s viewers know that “when the food’s good, everything’s good.”

Guests arrive with an array of impressive dishes for the soiree, from turkey to panettone, before Norton makes a surprise appearance, wearing a tuxedo and carrying a selection of desserts before reclining on a sofa to enjoy a mince pie.

Waitrose’s food takes centre stage, with products such as its Shimmering Salmon Mousse, Florentine-inspired Panettone and The Golden Bûche de Noël cake showcased.

The ad will make its debut this evening at 8:15pm during Emmerdale on ITV1.

Waitrose customer director Nathan Ansell said: “When it comes to Christmas, delicious food and drink play a central role in creating special moments for all the celebrations. We know that Christmas isn’t always smooth sailing and there’s bound to be a hiccup or two along the way.

“However, these inconveniences are always forgotten while you’re busy enjoying delicious food, surrounded by your loved ones and creating magical memories. And let’s face it, at Christmas it really is time for the good stuff, as when the food’s good, everything else is good.”

Norton added: “What a treat it was to be invited to such a fun party and to feature in this joyful Christmas campaign with Waitrose.

“It was quite a night, and after sampling so many delicious products from the festive range, I’ve got my order in already for the big day – because it’s Christmas, and it’s time for the good stuff.”

Asda unveiled a sneak peek of its 2023 Christmas advert yesterday, starring Michael Bublé.

The 60-second teaser, created by Havas London, premiered during ITV’s Good Morning Britain.
