Getir and Uber launch pan-European partnership

Getir and Uber have launched a new partnership that will enable customers in several European countries to order Getir’s selection of groceries from the Uber Eats app.

The collaboration is going live in the ultrafast delivery firm’s UK dark stores from today, with other countries to follow in coming weeks.

It was revealed earlier this month that the Turkey-based grocery delivery company’s valuation has dropped to $2.5bn (£1.9bn) as it looks to raise cash in a new funding round.

Uber Eats will have access to over 2,000 products, with deliveries expected to be made in minutes by Getir couriers.

As part of the partnership, customers will have the option to shop from Gorillas stores over the next few weeks.

Getir regional general manager, Turancan Salur, said: “This partnership between two strong and well-known international brands brings great advantages to Uber Eats customers, who now have the option to choose from Getir’s wide range of grocery and convenience products.

“At the same time, Getir benefits from accessing Uber Eats’ large pool of customers, further contributing to its growth.”

This move comes as Uber Eats continues to see high demand for groceries, with New Verticals orders exceeding £4.1bn ($5bn) in gross bookings in the first quarter, growing almost 35% year on year.

Uber delivery EMEA regional general manager, Eve Henrikson, added: “We want to ensure customers can use Uber Eats to get almost anything delivered in a matter of minutes, at the touch of a button.

“Getir’s vast selection of everyday essentials and ultrafast grocery delivery model will further enhance our marketplace and ensure more choice and convenience for millions of customers across key European markets.”

This comes as Uber Eats is set to launch two new features on its UK app, the ‘AI assistant’ and a ‘Sales Aisle’, that look to help shoppers save time and money.
