Iceland launches ‘Discount Dash’ to rival Amazon’s Prime Day

Iceland has launched Discount Dash in a bid to rival Amazon’s Prime Day sales event, allowing shoppers to save an average of 33% on items that “families need the most”.

The supermarket is offering its customers special discounts on 42 products – ranging from household staples to TGI Friday fakeaways – on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Customers may also get up to 50% off selected household products, including a Bluetooth karaoke machine, a blender and a family pool.

Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse group buying director Andrew Staniland said: “We know how popular events like Amazon’s ‘Prime Day’ are for the public, but we wanted to make something more accessible for our customers – providing great deals on value items to meet household needs with our Discount Dash.

“It is just another opportunity for our customers to make the most of unmissable value at Iceland.”

The supermarket is currently on course to post its highest profits in more than 10 years. It expects underlying profit to exceed the £176m it made in 2021 due to energy cost savings, sales growth and cost-cutting measures.

Iceland has helped customers by freezing hundreds of product prices to £1, as well as giving over-60 customers a 10% discount on Tuesdays.
