Over two thirds (63%) of Brits are expected to attend local street party celebrations for the King’s Coronation this May, according to research from online supermarket Ocado.
Some 70% of Gen Z and Millennials are planning on attending the community-based Coronation parties, compared to 46% of those aged 64 and above. However, just over one quarter (26%) of those surveyed said they would be willing to shoulder the burden and host the costly and time-consuming celebrations.
Despite ongoing cost-of-living pressures, 8 out of 10 Brits (83%) said they would happy to pay to attend a Coronation street party. The average amount they were willing to contribute was £9.20 per person.
Ocado also found that Londoners are the most likely to host street parties, with 41% planning a celebration.
