Cawston Press teases Lilt replacement with ‘naturally tropical’ Caribbean launch

Cawston Press is teasing Lilt lovers by hinting at the possibility of a ‘naturally tropical’ Caribbean launch to replace the much-loved soft drink brand, axed by Coca-Cola in a shock move last week.

As consumers take to social media to voice their despair at losing the classic pineapple and grapefruit-flavoured fizzy drink brand – which is being repositioned as part of the Fanta portfolio – Cawston Press is hoping to help fans fill the gap by adding its own version of the Caribbean classic to its existing sparkling drinks range.

As an expert in pressed juice, Cawston Press said it “knows that many will be sad to see the popular tropical soft drink lost into the Fanta brand, so thought it was time to give the people something to smile about”.

The brand has launched an Instagram poll allowing people to vote as it tests the demand for its own version of Lilt; a sparkling pineapple and grapefruit juice drink, but made with no artificial sugars or sweeteners.

With a commitment to transparency and natural ingredients, head of taste Micah Carr-Hill said the new drink would be a blend of not-from-concentrate pineapple juice and grapefruit juice, using just apple juice to sweeten.

“As we only use natural ingredients, we feel it is a better made alternative to the well-loved tropical drink that brings all the memories of Lilt to life, just without all that jiggery pokery,” said Carr-Hill.

“More juice and nothing unnecessarily added, it’s the naturally tropical taste. A new tilt on Lilt!”
