Ocado partners with Disney for Community Shop Cook Club

Ocado has teamed up with Disney and Community Shop to launch new Cook Clubs to support families across the country.

The first sessions starting today (13 February), will aim to teach parents and children key cooking skills by a Community Shop Chef, with a range of Disney-inspired recipes developed in partnership with the online-only supermarket.

The meals include Toy Story-themed Tacos, Little Mermaid-themed Shakshuka and Monsters Inc-themed Meatballs and Mash.

Taking place twice a week throughout the year and four days a week during school holidays, half terms and longer holidays will also see the roll out of family food festivals in each location, with health and wellbeing activities.

Launching in 11 areas including Leicester, London, Liverpool and Bradford, the programme is set to serve 20 families in each location every week.

With this figure doubling during school holidays, this equates to over 12,000 family cooking experiences throughout the year.

“We are delighted to be supporting Community Shop as we launch this fantastic new initiative, in partnership with Disney,” Ocado director of own brand, technical and sustainability, Rachel Cox-Reynolds said.

“Having worked with Community Shop for a number of years now, we’ve seen first-hand the incredible impact they have within local communities, and I’m confident that these cookery clubs will engage and support thousands of families across the country.”

Community Shop head chef, Diana Thompson added: “Cook clubs can provide children and families with the opportunity to learn new skills and get more comfortable with cooking good food.

“Thanks to Ocado and Disney, we’re able to welcome even more families into our Community Kitchens and also spread a bit of magic with these fantastic Disney themed recipes.”
