Waitrose debuts Juicy Marbles in plant-based Valentine’s Day meal deal

Juicy Marbles, pioneer of plant-based whole cuts of steak, is entering UK supermarkets for the first time as part of Waitrose’s Valentine’s Day Meal Deal.

As part of the special Meal Deal, customers will be able to share two steaks from the brand, along with a starter of vegan layered mushroom parfait, a side of PlantLiving dauphinoise potatoes, churros for dessert and a bottle of Yalumba Galway vintage barossa shiraz all for £20, offering a cost savings of over £15.

The steaks will be available in 217 Waitrose stores from 8th to 14th February, while stocks last at the upmarket retailer.

In the UK, demand for plant-based foods has soared with more Brits than ever opting for healthier diets or vegan lifestyles – meaning Juicy Marbles has picked a good time to join a growing market.

The plant-based steaks are rich in micro and macronutrients, making them easy to include in a wholesome, diverse diet. The versatility of the whole cut joints has seen people recreating traditional recipes like wellingtons and roasts with the plant-based meat.

The introduction of Juicy Marbles to the retailer follows a number of new additions to its plant-based range over the past year, such as its vegan Christmas range and new plant-based meat brand Heura rolling out across almost 200 stores for Veganuary.

“The first time I tried it I was sold – the texture of the Juicy Marbles steak is like nothing I have ever seen before from other plant based alternatives,” head chef at Waitrose, Martyn Lee said.

“The thing that is really exciting about this product is when cooking you see the raw protein turn into a caramelised and juicy steak that looks like the real thing.”

Lee added: “Whether you are incorporating a holistic approach to your meals or not, you are absolutely going to want to try this.”

Co-founder of Juicy Marbles, Luka Sinček commented: “Mr. Marbles will be pleased to see the introduction of Juicy Marbles’ steaks in Waitrose, one of the UK’s most respected supermarkets.

“We are also big fans of romance here in Marbles’ Surreal kitchen, so anything that has to do with celebrating love is our jam.”

The news comes as Waitrose pulls another major cereal brand Mornflake from supermarket shelves in a row over poor sales performance.
