Tesco brings back Kids Eat Free deal for Clubcard holders this half term

Tesco is bringing back the Kids Eat Free deal to all Clubcard holders this half term, offering help to families faced with stretched budgets during the school holidays.

Last year, Tesco provided more than 418,000 free meals to children during the school holidays across all 312 of its supermarket cafes.

Jason Tarry, Tesco UK CEO, said: “We know that household budgets can be stretched over the school holidays, so offering free meals to children when they’re off school is one of the ways we can support families during this time.”

Recent research from leading food charity The Food Foundation shows that 4 million children in UK households are affected by food insecurity, the highest level recorded since the start of the pandemic.

The research also shows that households with children are more likely to experience food insecurity (26%) than households without children (16%).

The latest deal, which is available to all Clubcard holders between Monday 13 and Friday 24 February 2023, allows children to choose between a free hot meal deal, breakfast or pick ‘n’ mix deal with each cafe item bought by an adult.

Shoppers will need to show their Clubcard at the point of purchase.

M&S is also bringing back its kids eat free scheme next week, in time for the half term break, while Asda has gone one further, adding  free warm breakfasts over the half-term break to its offering, as part of an exclusive partnership with Quaker Oats.
