Pukpip launches range of new frozen fruit products to disrupt ice cream category

Pukpip is launching a range of new frozen fruit with frozen bananas dipped in a choice of milk, dark and white chocolate.

New for 2023, Pukpip is set to transform the ice cream category by tapping into the rise of indulgent frozen snacking and desserts.

The frozen snacking brand is releasing the first product of its kind in UK retail, after sister company Diana’s has proven to be successful in the USA.

On a mission to help consumers eat more fruit in “fun, delicious and convenient” ways, the signature frozen bananas dipped in chocolate is serving as a healthy alternative to ice cream.

Pukpip bananas are responsibly sourced from the coastal region of Ecuador and freshly frozen, locking in that wholesome goodness.

Using bananas rejected from export due to small imperfections or markings on their skin, or because they’re the wrong shape or size, Pukpip makes use of ‘wonky’ fruit so the bananas don’t go to waste.

Pukpip Real Frozen Bananas can be purchased in multipacks of 3 at RRP of £3.99. Each packet has between 152-161 calories each.

“We know consumers are increasingly health conscious and actively looking for ways to improve their diet,” managing director at Pukpip, Zara Gugen said.

She added: “Market research has shown that 9 in 10 consumers want to eat more fruit and veg. But with the demands of modern life, it’s not easy to always eat well, get your 5-a-day and enjoy great taste.

“With tighter HFSS regulation we’re also giving retailers more opportunities to stock healthier, HFSS compliant options for consumers which still prioritise taste.”

Gugen explains: “We want to give consumers the best of both worlds; an easy way to enjoy more fruit and indulge in a permissible chocolate treat, enabling them to feel good about their choices.”

The news comes as frozen food retailer Iceland has revealed plans to cut back on chilled food it sells in a bid to reduce its energy bills.
