Bart Ingredients rolls out herbs and spices refill cartons to reduce waste

Bart Ingredients has launched a new range of eco-friendly refill cartons across 19 herb and spice lines.

Available in 422 of supermarket giant Morrisons stores as of this week, the new product acts as a planet-friendly alternative to the brand’s glass jars or as a way to refill pre-owned Bart jars instead of purchasing a new one.

In looking to reduce waste, through buying the cartons which weigh 92% less than an average 97g glass Bart jar, customers could save 17 times the carbon emissions created in the production of glass jars.

Each carton across the 19 lines which includes Chilli Flakes, Thyme, Himalayan Pink Salt, Black Peppercorns and Smoked Paprika, can be purchased for RRP £1.50.

“This new offering helps our consumers reduce their carbon footprint and plays a big part in helping our business achieve its sustainability ambitions too,” Bart Ingredients marketing director Alison Wilde told The Grocer.

“We’re anticipating an increase in scratch cooking as many people consider eating out less and making nutritious meals at home.

“Herbs and spices are relatively cheap when you consider how many servings you get, and they are a perfect way of elevating meals to create something truly delicious.”

This comes as Morrisons launched its 2022 festive advert earlier this month, featuring ‘Farmer Christmas’ for the second year running as it looks to showcase food, farmers and its own foodmakers at the heart of Christmas.
