As the World Cup in Qatar approaches, 54% of football fans are planning to pre-order food to celebrate, while many are favouring Christmas staples.
According to research by on-demand delivery service Gophr, of 2,000 fans across the UK, 18% plan to have turkey while watching England and Wales, while 16% are stocking up on mince pies.
For Londoners, this increases as 32% plan to pre-order a turkey, with 22% will be eating mince pies when watching the World Cup.
Those living in the north east are also preparing for celebrations with 32% saying that they will have food delivered during a match, while 47% of 18 to 24 year-olds will be pre-ordering ahead.

However, while festive staples are top picks for some, Gophr found that 26% will still be eating burgers and 38% plan to have pizza.
“This is going to be a World Cup like no other. Not only is it being hosted in far-flung Qatar, but it will be during the festive period – one of the busiest times of the year for delivery,” Gophr CEO and founder, Seb Robert said.
“It makes sense then that Christmas food and snacks are making an appearance on the match day lineup, and the delivery sector is going to have to be on its A-game for an even busier period than usual.”
This comes as food and drink is expected to account for over £1 billion of retail sales as people watch the World Cup from home.
According to a new report from consumer savings site VoucherCodes.co.uk, retailers are set to make £1.6 billion during the sporting event, down by £370 million compared to the 2018 tournament.
