Asda chief customer officer leaves after less than a year

After less than a year in the role, Asda’s current chief customer officer Meghan Farren is leaving the supermarket to return to KFC.

She spent more than 10 years at the fast food chain prior to her departure last year, when she left to take on the chief customer officer role at Asda last July.

Farren will be returning to KFC in Autumn to become its general manager for the UK, having worked at the restaurant giant for 10 years before joining the supermarket giant.

Since joining Asda, she has led campaigns including the launch of its £45m ‘Dropped and Locked’ investment earlier this year.

Prior to joining KFC, Farren worked at dessert brand Gu, after spending time at consulting firm Marakon and JP Morgan.

As she departs, Farren’s role will be handed on an interim basis to Sam Dickson, VP of brand and proposition.

She joined Asda back in 2021 from Waitrose and has led the reinvention of Asda’s Extra Special and Smart Price ranges, including the launch of its new value range, Just Essentials.

Mike Snell, who has led the commercial team on an interim basis, will hand over to Comerford over the summer, before leaving Asda in September to take on a new role.
