McVitie’s owner appoints former Coca-Cola exec as MD

Pladis, the parent company of McVitie’s and Jacobs, has appointed Tim Brett as managing director of Western Europe and emerging markets.

Brett joins the biscuit manufacturer from the Coca-Cola company where he spent nearly four years as president of its Western Europe business unit.

He has over 30 years of FMCG experience across international markets, having lived and worked in the UK, Romania, Hungary, Poland, and Japan, among others.

Prior to this, he worked for Guinness, United Distillers and Walkers Snack Foods (PepsiCo).

“We’re delighted to have Tim join the pladis team. I have been so impressed by his passion, as well as his track record of taking bold decisions to ensure consistent success and growth,” Pladis CEO Salman Amin said.

“Western Europe and Emerging Markets is an important region for pladis, and his expertise across sales, marketing and innovation will be invaluable as we look to grow our talent and leadership around the world.”

The appointment follows the decision to combine Western Europe and Emerging Markets into one region in order to maximise on shared opportunities and grow Pladis’ presence in new and emerging markets.

Brett added: “I am excited to join pladis at such a pivotal time. The company’s iconic brands have a wealth of potential in this market, and I look forward to working with the team to introduce new and beloved brands to consumers across the region.”
