Iceland partners with The Big Lunch for Jubilee celebrations

Iceland has partnered with community charity The Big Lunch for the street parties and celebrations being held across the country for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

This is the second year running that the supermarket has partnered with The Big Lunch, which is an annual get together run by the Eden Project charity. It first began in 2009 to encourage communities to come together, celebrate their connections and get to know each other a little bit better.

As the official community celebration for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, this year’s Big Jubilee Lunch is taking place on Sunday 5 June and “bringing the Jubilee celebrations into the heart of every community”.

Describing itself as “a business with deep connections within its local communities”, Iceland hopes that the partnership will encourage shoppers to “celebrate community connections and get to know one another a little better”.

For this year’s event, Iceland – and the Food Warehouse – will be encouraging 1,000 of its stores to support its lead charity of the year Action for Children and host Big Lunches to fund money for the charity.

Iceland Food’s Charitable Foundation – which has been established since 1973 – has donated over £30m in that time, with £6m going directly to children’s charities.

The supermarket has also launched a range of Jubilee-themed street party food and drink to cater for the four-day weekend, which will be available in store and online from 25 April 2022.
