Rapid grocery delivery service Gorillas is celebrating its first anniversary of UK operations this month, after first launching in London in March 2021
Throughout its first year, Gorillas has reached several business milestones such as being the fastest ever European start-up to reach a $1 billion valuation, partnering with UK’s largest supermarket Tesco, and working with 50 local and independent suppliers across the UK.
Furthermore, the rapid grocer launched its own record label, Pedal Records, acquired French delivery pioneer Frichiti and secured a multi-year partnership with football team Paris Saint-Germain.
Gorillas stated sustainability as a key pillar for its business, partnering with Too Good To Go and The Felix Project on various initiatives.

Through the Felix Project, Gorillas has donated over 450,000 meals to those in need, saving 193 tonnes of food waste, and the partnership with Too Good to Go has saved over 28,000 ‘Magic Bags’ offsetting over 70,000kg of CO2 emissions.
“We can’t believe it’s only been one year since we first launched in London at our Shoreditch warehouse,” Gorillas general manager Christopher Chaaya.
“Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength, expanding to dozens of micro-fulfilment centres in London alone, and a further four regional locations across the UK.
Chaaya added: “Not only have we been delivering high-quality groceries to consumers over the last year, but we’ve also developed a number of landmark partnerships with the likes of Tesco, and recently UK foodie favourites MOB, whilst also supporting our network of incredibly talented independent suppliers.
“It’s safe to say, it’s been a busy year, and we can’t wait for you all to see what we have in store for the next 12 months.”
