Plant-based meat brand ‘This’ launches caramelised onion sausages

Plant-based meat business, This, is set to launch a new caramelised onion sausage with Tesco on 4 April.

The ‘This isn’t Pork Caramelised Onion Sausages’ (£2.95, 230g) uses pea protein and vegetable fibres to create a hyper-realistic meat alternative.

In addition, the company also used its newly created Fat 2.0 ingredient in the new product which helps create the same ‘succulence and bite’ of meat.

It also uses a red onion chutney base and real red onion chunks to create a depth of flavour and texture.

The news comes after the success of the business’ ‘This Isn’t Pork Sausages’, which was released at the end of 2021 and is currently the company’s third best-selling product – out of 13 different SKUs.

‘There’s a clear demand for high quality, hyper-realistic plant-based sausages” This co-founder Any Shovel said.

“The fact that our THIS™ Isn’t Pork Sausages have already become one of our best-sellers in such a short time is testament to that. This new edition tastes lush and is another great showcase of our Fat 2.0 innovation.”

This is currently the fastest-growing brand in the UK plant-based meat market, currently growing at 333%.
