Asda Rewards loyalty programme is extended to 48 stores

Asda has extended its Asda Rewards loyalty programme to 48 stores, following a successful 16-store trial.

The new Asda Rewards app allows customers to collect rewards from the supermarket when they buy selected branded and Asda own-label products, building up their ‘cashpot’, which can then be spent on in-store purchases.

Shoppers can also add to their cashpot by completing missions, such as buying five fruit and veg items to unlock their ‘5-a-day badge’.

The app launched across select West Yorkshire and Birmingham stores last October and more than 90,000 shoppers have downloaded it so far, with 50,000 using it on a regular basis. Asda customers from across the trial stores have already completed over 200,000 missions and built up over £800,000, which they can turn into vouchers to spend in-store.

Users can then redeem their cash whenever they choose by creating a voucher with the money they have saved. This can be used on their next shop or saved up to pay for a full shop in the future.

“We are really pleased that customers in our trial stores are benefiting from the Asda Rewards app and we’re excited that from today, 32 more stores will be taking part across different areas of the UK, as we continue to evolve the programme,” said Asda’s vice president of customer proposition and planning, Matt Mclellan.

The supermarket is now extending the trial to all West Yorkshire stores, along with four stores in the North East and four stores in central Scotland. The trial will also continue in the existing eight stores in Birmingham.
