Amazon Fresh store unveiled in Kensington

Amazon has opened its second convenience store in 2022 in Kensington, joining 16 other stores in London.

The new branch comes after the opening of the Southwark store earlier this month and follows last year’s launches in Camden, Ealing, Canary Wharf, Holborn, Dalston, East Sheen, Islington, Richmond, Wembley Park and White City.

Amazon Fresh branches offer a wide selection of products, including its private food brand ‘By Amazon’.

As with other stores, customers will need to use the Amazon app to enter and shop in the store.

The grocer uses the e-commerce giant’s “Just Walk Out” technology which automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to shelves.

At the end of their shopping trip, customers are charged via their Amazon accounts and can leave the store without the need to queue or checkout.

Customers do not require an Amazon Prime account and are emailed their receipt once they have left the store.

In addition, the new Amazon Fresh store has an Amazon Hub counter where customers can collect or return items purchased from the company’s website.

To celebrate the opening, shoppers will get £10 off their first shop at the new Kensington store.
