Aldi has earned the “Best Spirits Supermarket 2022” title at the People’s Choice Drinks Awards earlier this week.

The decision was made by spirit drinkers who were asked to vote for their favourite supermarket according to the value for money and quality of their products.

Aldi also beat Waitrose and Booths for the title, as its alcohol sales increased by 19% over the past two years.

Its success has been attributed to NPD, including a new Japanese Whisky and Cream Liqueurs.

“Winning any award is a pleasure, but it’s an even greater privilege when it’s been voted for by the people that matter most to us – shoppers,” Aldi UK managing director of buying Julie Ashfield.

“We’re delighted that the quality and innovation of our range is helping us to deliver what customers want, and all at a fantastic price.”

The news comes as prices rises have seen shoppers switch to discount retailers like Aldi, which was also awarded the “cheapest supermarket of the year” by Which?
