Waitrose launches star-studded Christmas campaign

Waitrose has launched its new Christmas campaign featuring ‘Extras’ star Ashley Jensen and chef Hester Blumenthal.  

The advertisement launched on November 16 across the retailer’s social media channels and website, and premiered on Tuesday’s showing of Emmerdale on ITV and The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. 

The supermarket confirmed it will also be available to watch on video-on-demand platforms.  

To tie-in to the campaign, the retailer has announced the launch of several holiday season offerings featured in the advertisement this week, including the Gianduia Torta Da Festa and the Free-Range Bronze Feathered Turkey.

Customers will also be able to purchase the No. 1 Truffle Prosciutto and the Gruyère Fondue from November 29, and the Heston from Waitrose the Giant Cracking Penny from December 13.  

“Food plays such a wonderful role in creating those special moments and we know how incredibly important this Christmas is to so many people, after we were unable to have all of our friends and family around us last year,” Waitrose customer director Martin George said. 

“We felt the feasting and celebrations deserved the spotlight in this year’s campaign because the best bit of Christmas is the food.” 

Jensen added: “My favourite part of Christmas has always been the food. 

“It was an absolute pleasure to work with Waitrose.”
