Spar launches value own-brand

Spar International is set to launch its new own-brand range, Spar N°1, across its European franchise locations.

According to the convenience retailer, the selection will initially be made available throughout its 11,890 stores in 26 European markets, before an international expansion over its second phase.

The range currently stocks 70 SKUs and is scheduled to expand beyond 100 items by the end of 2021.

The franchise reports that it has ramped up its value offerings due to the impact of Covid-19, which has seen consumers transition increasingly to value and own brand purchases across Europe.

The move comes as the latest step in the convenience grocer’s multi-tier Spar own brand strategy, which claims to provide customers with a variety of own brand items at “exceptional value” prices.

The retailer also confirmed that its products are selected based on “strong quality assurance standards” and that all items are sourced from within the European Union.

The news follows Spar’s announcement earlier this month that it will be expanding its Spar Natural range, which it has been distributing since 2018, with a wider variety of plant-based milk alternatives, including oat, rice and almond dairy-free drinks.
