Deliveroo poaches Amazon VP as new chief product and technology officer

Deliveroo has appointed former Amazon vice president Devesh Mishra as its new chief product and technology officer, with effect from early September.

In his new position, Mishra will be responsible for Deliveroo’s tech org, which contains the company’s engineering, data science, design and product development functions. He will report directly to chief executive, Will Shu, and will sit on the executive team.

Mishra joins from Amazon, where he has worked for the past 16 years and held a number of senior roles.

Most recently, he has been vice president, global supply chain, overseeing a team of thousands made up of engineers, data scientists and product managers, operating a supply chain spanning 185 markets.

Before this he held the position as director for Amazon’s WW Inventory Buying and Sourcing.

Deliveroo also announced that it is now creating 400 additional high-skilled tech jobs across a range of skill sets, including software engineers, product managers, user researchers, designers, and data scientists.

“Devesh is a world class tech talent and we are delighted that he is joining the team. He has unique and unmatched experience in how technology can help to scale a business and deliver world-leading consumer experiences,” Shu said.

“He will help take Deliveroo to the next stage in our journey. Devesh will work with the team to ensure we are delivering unique experiences for our consumers, restaurant and grocery partners, and riders, as well as developing new innovations as we seek to become the definitive online food company.”
