Yakult appoints new national sales manager
Gut health brand Yakult has appointed Joe Gailani as national sales manager for the UK & Ireland, to assist in the next phase of commercial growth.
This move comes as the business aims to strengthen its retailer partnerships and broaden distribution across key channels.
As part of the new role, he will lead the brand’s strategy across the UK & Ireland, which aims to improve existing retail agreements, support sustainable category growth and increase brand availability across a wider range of channels.
He brings over 18 years of experience within food and drink brand sectors to the role, with his expertise spanning across national accounts, commercial strategy and customer development.

Gailani said: “As consumer awareness and interest in gut health continue to grow, Yakult is well-placed to translate its longstanding expertise and research in the category into further opportunity.
“My focus is on translating that brand strength into further commercial growth by deepening customer relationships and working closely with our retail partners to ensure we are responding to their priorities and supporting sustainable growth.”
Additionally, Gailani will work closely with Yakult Europe’s retail & distribution team to support future product development.
This appointment is part of a wider investment in the company’s commercial and executive teams in 2026 to support its growth plans.
In April the business appointed a new managing director, Shinji Yamaguchi.
