Sainsbury’s has launched 10 new Taste the Difference ready meals in a bid to offer more convenient, high-quality mains.

The supermarket’s new range, priced at £5 per single-serve dish, includes a Smoky Aubergine Tikka Masala, Gochujang Roasted Cauliflower, Mexican Style Chimichurri Chicken, Lemon & Thyme Chicken Risotto, Smoky BBQ Beef Brisket, Beef Brisket with Red Wine Jus, Harissa & Pomegranate Lamb, Teriyaki King Oyster Mushrooms, Roasted Butternut Squash Gnocchi, and a Cod, Cheese & Leek Gratin.

Sainsbury’s director of product and innovation Claire Hughes said: “Within our new range of Taste the Difference ready meals, we’ve incorporated the high-quality ingredients you would expect, whilst introducing more modern cuisines such as Smoky Aubergine Tikka Masala and Harissa & Pomegranate Lamb, which stand out in a new packaging format.

“These single-serve mains are carefully prepared to offer satisfying, wholesome food at a great price, making it easy for our customers to eat well on a tight schedule.

“As we move into colder months, more of our customers are seeking warm, wholesome meals – last month, searches for ‘ready meals’ at Sainsbury’s increased by 17% and ‘healthy ready meals’ by 55%. Our new range of meals are ideal for those wanting a fresh, delicious, fuss-free solution this autumn.”

It comes as Sainsbury’s has become the first UK grocer to extend its Aldi Price Match into convenience stores, taking its investment into value to nearly £1bn in four years.

Across Sainsbury’s Local stores, the reduced prices will roll out across breakfast, lunch and dinner essentials, focusing on the go-to items households buy most often, including daily staples like milk, bread, butter, jam, peanut butter, honey, pasta, rice, salad, tuna, chicken, steak, potatoes and vegetable oil.
