Co-op is set to launch its Christmas food-to-go range as it partners with children’s charity Barnardo’s with an aim to raise £5m.

This year, the convenience retailer’s festive offerings include a peppercorn steak wrap with rosemary gravy dip, and a turkey, truffle and brie sandwich, both of which will be available in the premium range.

A festive sub roll will also be available in the retailer’s core range, while five of its popular sandwiches, including GRO no turkey and spiced slaw, brie and cranberry, Boxing Day feast, turkey feast, and pigs under blankets, will return with quality improvements.

Sales totalling £50,000 from the Christmas sandwich range will be donated to Barnardo’s as part of the partnership.

Co-op’s core sandwiches and wraps are priced individually at £3.25 and can be purchased as part of a standard meal deal for £3.50 for members and £4.00 for non-members.

The premium sandwiches and wraps in the Irresistible range are priced at £3.95 and members can purchase them as part of the premium meal deal for £5.00 or £5.50 for non-members.

Co-op food-to-go developer Rebecca Galloway said: “The lead up to the festive season is such an exciting time for us – the festive sandwich has become part of the Christmas tradition for many of us across the country and we know our members and customers eagerly anticipate picking up a festive lunchtime treat when they pop into our stores.

“We’ve got an extensive range this year, with three new products and we’ve improved the recipes on our five returning favourites to make them more delicious than ever. What’s more, the full range is available in the lunchtime meal deal, which is one of the cheapest in the market, to provide added value for our shoppers.”

It comes as Tesco and Aldi have also unveiled their festive sandwiches, offering shoppers a taste of Christmas before the big day.
